GERMAN MEETINGS – DUESSELDORF – Collins will meet France’s sprint star Lemaitre at the 8th “PSD Bank Meeting” at Athletics Hall at Arena Sportpark on 8th February 2013.
Duesseldorf, – Kim Collins feels at home in Duesseldorf. This fact corroborates the starting acceptance of the 2003 World 100m champion for the 8th “PSD Bank Meeting” at Athletics Hall at Arena Sportpark on 8th February 2013.
“Kim Collins still holds the meeting record in Duesseldorf and will compete here for the third time in a row.“ That’s how Meeting Director Marc Osenberg expressed his joy about the participation of the three-time World bronze medallist (2005 and 2011 in the 100m, 2001 in the 200m) and two-time World indoor silver medallist (2003 and 2008). In 2010, the 36-year-old from St. Kitts and Nevis won the 60m sprint in Duesseldorf setting the still valid meeting record and a season’s World best time with 6.52 seconds.
Among others, Collins will meet the just 22-year-old Frenchman Christophe Lemaitre at the 2013 “PSD Bank Meeting”. After numerous international youth and junior successes he achieved his final breakthrough in 2010 when he remained under the magical ten-second mark clocking 9.98sec and winning double gold in the 100 and 200m at the European Championships in Barcelona. In 2011, he gained the bronze medal in the 200m at the World Championships in Daegu and the following year retained his European title in the 100m in Helsinki. Osenberg: “I’m already looking forward to that race.”
The 7th edition of the “PSD Bank Meeting” finished in fourth place in the ranking of the International Athletics Federation (IAAF) for the best indoor meetings in 2012 thus establishing itself among the top of the world-wide indoor meetings.
In the past years the “PSD Bank Meeting” has always attracted a sell-out crowd of 2,000. In 2013, 650,000 fans watched the performances of the international and national top stars on Eurosport. Eurosport will broadcast again in 2013.
