The German Sport University Cologne (Deutsche Sporthochschule Köln) is Germany’s largest and most prestigious center of teaching and research in physical education and sport science. Originally founded in Berlin in 1920 as a national College of Physical Education, it was re-located to Cologne in 1947 as a municipal institution and taken over in 1962 by the Federal State of North Rhine-Westphalia.
In 1970 it was formally recognized as a State University and since than has been invested with all the academic privileges of a public institution of higher education.
As a specific subject area university with 20 scientific institutes (departments) it covers a wide range of sport science teaching and research. More than 30 sports are taught in theory and practice in modern facilities. Currently approximately 5,500 students, including 350 international students, are preparing for professional careers in sport, physical education sport science, and other related fields.
The university offers academic Bachelor and Master degrees, teacher certificates for various school levels, and a doctoral degree.

2. Accommodation (on campus)
The dorms have single rooms, central kitchens and central bathrooms. Dorm D has also double rooms and bathrooms en suite. Dorm A has only double rooms. All rooms have internet access.

If you wish to participate in the sport motor aptitude test you have to apply online. Please note that admission to the Bachelor study programme is not possible without having passed the sport motor aptitude test or at least having applied for it.

• secured financing of the studies
• successful participation in the sport motor aptitude test (only for Bachelor and Teacher Training Program)
• a German language proficiency test for university admission (DSH 2 or TestDaF 4)

• a German university entrance qualification (secondary school leaving certificate, Abitur) or a foreign university entrance qualification equivalent to a German secondary school certificate. The document must be submitted in German or English language
• secured financing of the studies
• Certificate on completed university degree program of at least six semesters (according to Admission Regulations §3, 1a) including a diploma supplement/transcript of records. The documents must be submitted in German or English language.
• Curriculum Vitae
• Letter of motivation: Statement on personal interest regarding the study objectives, study program and its modules, the reasons for entering the study program, and medium-term personal career perspectives
• a German language proficiency test for university admission (DSH 2 or TestDaF 4). This is not required for the M.A. Sport Management program since the degree is held entirely in English. For further details see Sport Management.
Additional documents if existing:
• Proof of academic records (e. g. publications, scientific projects)
• Proof of professional experience (e. g. job reference, internships)
• Proof of sport practical experience (e. g. coaching license)

Please note: Applicants need to proove their participation in the test until the 15th of july! The test documentation of the TOEFL or IELTS scores can be handed in till the 31st August 2012.
• English native speaker as well as graduates holding a Bachelor of an English degree program obtained at a university within the European Union, the USA, Canada or Australia are not required to show this proof of language proficiency.
