Duesseldorf, 8 February 2013. With three season’s World best performances, four meeting records and a once again 2,000 sell-out crowd at Athletics Hall at Arena Sportpark, the PSD Meeting in Duesseldorf impressively substantiated its top position among the international indoor meetings.

“That was the best meeting here in Duesseldorf with a fantastic atmosphere”, said Meeting Director Marc Osenberg.

US American Omoghan Osaghae set the first season’s World best time of the evening when he clocked 7.53 seconds in the 60m hurdles heat. However, his new best time stood for just one hour, then Osaghae’s American team-mate Kevin Craddock was three hundredths faster in the final (7.50sec), successfully defending last year’s title. World triple jump champion Olga Salahuda (Ukraine) also achieved a season’s World best performance with 14.52 metres.

Caleb Ndiku (Kenya/3,000m/7:38,77min), Murielle Ahoure (Ivory Coast/60 m/7.08sec), Lerone Clarke (Jamaica), who equalled Kim Collins’s (St.Kitts and Nevis) meeting record with 6.52sec in the 60m flat, and German Olympic silver medallist Bjoern Otto (5.90m) in the pole vault set the meeting records at the 8th edition of the “PSD Bank Meeting”. After a thrilling competition with Yansheng Yang (China) Otto celebrated his first victory in Duesseldorf. “It was a high-flying game here in Duesseldorf today, but I think there is still potential for improvement.”

“The eighth edition of the PSD Bank Meeting in Duesseldorf was again a real festival of athletics in front of a fantastic backdrop and peppered with top performances. A big thank you to title sponsor PSD Bank Rhein-Ruhr eG and meeting Director Marc Osenberg, who once again managed to get the world’s elite to Duesseldorf”, said Burkhard Hintzsche, head of the sports department of the capital of North Rhine-Westphalia.
