The weather in Zelenograd (say Moscow) this weekend is nice – arround minus 4-6 degrees in daytime without wind and with sunshine. I did my running 45-50 min. this tow days.
But atmosphere in our running life in Moscow for this year is not good. During this week I visited race directors of main events. The main unpleasant surprise is the death of Moscow International Peace Marathon (AIMS member and the biggest and one of the oldest marathon in Russia).
Moscow goverment doesn't want to give the city streets for that race anymore. But at the same date (September 15) they give possibility for another team of young people to organize a new marathon named just Moscow Marathon and they have promised a good money for it.
A year ago that young team started to take care about Moscow Marathon "Luzhniky" (AIMS member) but they gave it up (say that marathon is dead too).
And one more sad news is about Zelenograd Half Marathon (AIMS member). The current organisers have informed me that they don't want to hold it anymore. The reason is that it is not financially attractive.
I really take it to heart because I was the founder of that race in 1997 and was the race director during 12 years. May be I'll take it back but now I'm not sure.
