11th Zurich Marathon/Switzerland on 7. April 2013

A total of 8'674 runners from 76 nations and all the cantons of Switzerland will start at the 11th Zurich Marathon on 7 April. Exactly 3’029 marathon runners, 850 teams and 2’249 10km cityrunners. We are happy to welcome you und wish you a successful run on Sunday.

Please do not forget to pick up your number bib on Friday, Saturday or Sunday morning in the Saalsporthalle. You already received a confirmation by e-mail with the number bib and the most important information.

SMS service is online!

 

ewz offers a free SMS service in collaboration with Datasport. Your results will be immediately transmitted onto your mobile phone as soon as you cross the finish line. In addition, you can inform three persons of your choice about split and final times so that they can always know where you are on the course.

Once your number bib is assigned, simply go to the start list, klick on SMS Service, fill in your number bib and phone numbers, so you and your friends will be informed.

 

Start – Finish

The marathon will start at 8:30 at Zurich Mythenquai, near Hafendamm Enge.

All competitors must cross the finish line at 2:00 pm.


The starting point is located at Zurich Mythenquai, near Hafendamm Enge. The walking distance from the clothes bag check to the starting point is 500 – 800m.

 

Please make sure to be in your performance sector at least 15 minutes before the race will start. The sectors are divided by expected finishing times and are appropriately color-coded and marked. Please choose the sector that matches your expected performance time. Fair play! Your race time will not be clocked until you pass the red mat on the ground at the starting line.

Time limit: 5:30 (transponder timing)

With respect to residents along the race course and the road traffic, there is a maximum time limit of 5:30 hours for completing the race. Runners, who are not within the required time limit, will have to turn in their transponders. Runners, who do not reach the turning point in Meilen at 12.00am have to hand over their transponder and number bib.

Is this your first marathon race? If you are able to complete a half-marathon in less than 2:15 hours, you should be able to reach the finish line of the Zurich Marathon within the required time limit.

Timing / Transponder

 

Transponders will be used for time measurement. All participants at the Zurich Marathon will receive an integrated transponder within their number bib. You will find all necessary information regarding the transponder on the back of your number bib. Your time only starts once you cross the starting line. It is important that your transponder is returned to the collectors once you cross the finish line.

If there is nobody to take your transponder, please return it at the info desk at the finish area or mail it in a lined envelope to: Datasport AG, Postfach 117, 4563 Gerlafingen. Runners who do not return their transponder will be charged (from May 2013) CHF 60.-. Participants are not allowed to use neither their own personal or other timing devices.

Intermediate times

Your split times will be stopped at 1/4, 1/2  and 3/4  of the marathon.

 

Marathon Expo

 

Over 30 companies will attend the Marathon Expo. Even if you are not participating at the Zurich Marathon, you are allowed to visit the Expo in order to discover the latest trends in the sport industry, try on or buy new running shoes, receive information about other running events or participate in one of the competitions. The entry is cost-free for everybody.

Friday, 5 April 2013, from 11:00 am – 8:00 pm
Saturday, 6 April 2013, from 10:00 am – 7:00 pm

The Marathon Expo is located at the number bib distribution site at the Saalsporthalle, Giesshübelstrasse 41 in Zurich (take tram No. 13 direction Albisgüetli, tram No. 5 direction Laubegg, or Sihltal train S4 and get off at "Saalsporthalle/Sihlcity").

There are no parking spaces available at the Saalsporthalle.

   
   

 

Beverages and Food

There are twelve fluids and food stations along the course. The first is at kilometer 3,5. There will be another fluids and food station approximately every 3,5 kilometers until the finish line. After the finish line athletes get also drinks and food.

The official food partner is PowerBar.

Changing rooms / showers

Available on Sunday from 6:30 am – 3:00 pm at public swimming bath Mythenquai (near to starting and finish area) as well as at the Saalsporthalle from 6:00 am – 5:00 pm.

A shuttle bus service to and from the Saalsporthalle is provided.

Clothes bag check

The way to the depot is clearly marked within the start/finish area on Mythenquai (Post train cars). Important: Please use the official clothing bags with the sticker number that matches your start number.

 

With your clothing bag coupon, which is attached to your number bib, your family and/or friends can collect your deposited bag after 9:30 at the clothing bag depot (Mythenquai).

Date 2014

The 12th Zurich Marathon, 5th Teamrun and 3rd 10km cityrun take place on Sunday 6th April 2014.

Disqualification

The following actions lead to disqualification: Running without a number bib, running without the official transponder, obtaining assistance by a vehicle (bike, inline-skates, etc.) and starting in the wrong starting sector.

ewz-Meeting-Point

There is a meeting point at Hafendamm Enge (yellow ewz arc), where runners can meet their friends and family members after the race.

Finisher-Diploma

Each finisher has the possibility to receive its personal diploma free, which can be downloaded cost-free after the race on www.zuerichmarathon.ch. The runners can also order a diploma with their finisher photo on www.alphafoto.com against payment.

Finisher-Medal

 

After crossing the finish line all runners will receive their medal at the finish tent.

Finisher-Photos

Photographers from Alpha Foto will take pictures at selected photo sites along the race course and in the finish area. Give us your best smile and look forward to beautiful marathon pictures of you and your participating friends. You can view and purchase these pictures after the race at www.alphafoto.com.

Finisher-Shirt

All runners who hand in their transponders after crossing the finish line will receive a functional polo shirt of Li-Ning, which is featured with AWS Dry Technology.

This shirt ist available in men's and women's cut from size XS to XL.

First Aid

 

Sanitary stands are located in the starting and finish area as well as at each food stand. In case of emergency please contact immediately the next race course personnel in order that he/she is able to arrange all further, necessary steps. An emergency unit is located in the finish area.

Please fill out the back of your start bib, in order that we are able to act quickly in case of emergency. The medical service is provided by medbase sports medical center zurich.

Info desk

On Friday and Saturday there will be an info desk at the Saalsporthalle.

On Sunday the info desk will be located at Hafendamm Enge (Starting and Finish Area).

Sunday, 7 April 2013, from 7:30 am till 2:30 pm.

Lost and Found

All lost and found items can be dropped off and collected at the info desk at Hafendamm Enge (Starting and Finish Area) until 3:00 pm on Sunday. After that, all items will be delivered to the municipal lost and found office at Werdmühlestrasse 10 (office hours: Monday-Friday, 7:30 am – 5:30 pm; Tel. 044 412 25 50).

Marathon-Booklet

All relevant information can be found in the marathon booklet, which is also in the start bag.

Pacemaker

Pacemakers will be available for the respective goal times of 3:00, 3:15, 3:30, 3:45, 4:00, 4:15, 4:30, 4:45, 5:00 and 5:30. They will be running with yellow Garmin balloons indicating the time and be wearing a yellow Li-Ning T-Shirt. All pacers are running with a Garmin GPS to ensure that you get to the finish line on time.

Pasta-Party

On Saturday,  there will be a Pasta-Party from 4.00 pm until 7.00 pm at the Saalsporthalle.

All runners and their friends are invited to join it. Runners receive a voucher for this party.

Ranking List

The ranking list with your split times at 1/4, 1/2 and 3/4 of the marathon will be provided after the race on www.zuerichmarathon.ch.

Toilets

Various mobile toilets are available in the starting and finish area. Along the race course there are mobile toilets at each food stand. In the city of Zurich and in the lakeside communities are public toilets, which are cost-free for participants. A race course employee may inform you, where the next toilet is located.

Time standard guide table

Runners can pick up a time standard guide table, that includes a useful wrist band, at the Garmin stall, which is located at the Marathon Expo.

This table is free of charge.

Transportation

Attached to the number bib, you will receive a one-day pass for unlimited travel within the entire network of the Zurich public transportation system (ZVV) on sunday, 7 April 2013.

The city center will be closed from 8.00 am until 3.00 pm. The following tram lines are affected by the marathon: 2, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 11 and 13 as well as the bus lines 33, 161, 165, 910 and 912. The Seestrasse will be closed between Meilen and the city of zurich until 2.30 pm. There are no parking spaces available.

Victory ceremony

The official victory ceremonies at starting and finish area taking place as follows:

10.15 am: 10km cityrun

11.10 am: Zurich Marathon Elite

01.00 pm: Swiss Marathon Championship Elite

01.15 pm: Zurich cantonal Championship

01.30 pm: Teamrun

02.00 pm: Zurich cantonal Championship all categories

 

The entitled runners will receive a SMS for the official victory ceremonies.

We ask all winners kindly to attend the victory ceremonies. Medals and prizes won't be send by mail.
