QUANTICO, Va. – Registration for two of the Marine Corps Marathon's (MCM) celebrated events, the MCM10K presented by Aetna and the Healthy Kids Fun Run, opens online at noon Eastern, on Wednesday, April 17 at www.marinemarathon.com.

The MCM10K presented by Aetna, held in conjunction with the MCM on Sunday, Oct. 27, will include 10,000 participants running a spectacular course that starts among the impressive buildings of the Smithsonian Institution on the National Mall in Washington, DC, and finishes at the iconic Marine Corps War Memorial in Rosslyn, Va. The MCM10K is open to runners ages 8 and above.

Registration for the MCM10K costs $48 and includes the competitor shirt, bib with timing device, the MCM event program and many other amenities throughout MCM Weekend. Finishers receive an impressive medal and finisher certificate.

Registration for the Healthy Kids Fun Run to be hosted the day prior to the MCM, Saturday, October 26, costs $10 and is open to kids ages 5 to 12.
The young runners will embark on a one-mile course lined with cheering U.S. Marines. The Healthy Kids Fun Run, held in the North Pentagon parking lot in Arlington, Va., offers free shuttle service for families from the Pentagon Metro to the Kids Run start line, entertainment, mascots, healthy snacks and Camp Miles, a family-oriented festival featuring interactive challenges, games, exhibits and crafts.  All participants receive an event shirt, keepsake bib and medal.

The Healthy Kids Fun Run is open to individuals or organized school groups whose participation may be recognized with the Healthy School Award, presented to those schools with the most student participants.

"Over the years, both, the MCM10K and Healthy Kids Fun Run, have distinguished themselves as prominent events for runners of all ages to share the excitement of MCM Weekend," says Rick Nealis, MCM Director.

The 38th MCM will be held on Sunday, Oct. 27.

Schools and organizations interested in registering groups of students for the Healthy Kids Fun Run should contact Sandra Osborn-Peters at 703-784-2225 or sandra.osbornpeters@usmc.mil.
