Statement of German Road Races (GRR) e.V. regarding bomb attacks at the Boston Marathon
It was with shock and great sadness that we watched the horrific images from the 117th Boston Marathon yesterday.
We would like to express our sincere condolences to all of those afflicted and to the friends and families of those who were injured and killed, as runners, spectators or volunteers at the world’s oldest marathon.
The worldwide running community and the general public is deeply impacted and attacked by these indefensible crimes at a peaceful and unifying meeting of international sports.
It is a black day for the peace-loving international sporting community.
We would like to express our utmost respect and recognition for the organizers of the Boston Marathon (B.A.A.) and the US security forces in Boston for their prudent behavior and rapid response after the explosions.
We hope the circumstances behind the incident are cleared up quickly and hope that the international running community can emerge from this stronger than ever.
German Road Races stands as one with the Boston Marathon.
