Athletics Ireland – News – Big Crowds Expected at Euro Team Champs
The Morton Stadium is expected to be full with Irish sports supporters this weekend, June 22/23rd ,for the European Athletics Team Championships 1st League and to give real support to the Irish Team in their endeavours to finish in the top ten of the twelve competing European teams over the two days of competition in 40 events.
Athletics Ireland have been delighted with the up-take of their ticket offer, whereby any Athletics Ireland registered every club could apply for complementary tickets for their members to attend the prestigious event over the two days.
Well over 150 Irish Athletics Clubs have applied for over 3000 tickets for their members and these clubs will receive their ticket allocation over the coming days.
The support of the Irish athletics enthusiasts in Santry will play an important role in driving the Irish team to giving 100% in their events over the two days in their chase for top points in the challenge to maintain 1st League status.
Tickets for all the action in the Morton Stadium can also be bought on the two days in Santry at the gate for €10, and children will go free if accompanied by a paying guardian.
The challenge to the Irish Team to keep it’s 1st League status will be one that all of the fifty strong Irish Athletics Team, together with support staff, will relish, in what will no doubt be the highest quality athletics meeting ever staged in Ireland.
The Morton Stadium will be packed giving real support to the Irish Team in their endeavours to finish in the top 10 European teams over the weekends some 40 events.
The Irish Team for the European Athletics Team Championships will be competing against teams from eleven other European countries in Santry in just over 4 days time. These teams are:
Belgium, Bulgaria, Czech Republic, Estonia, Finland, Hungary, Netherlands, Portugal, Romania, Sweden and Switzerland.
Dublin has hosted this prestigious event on five previous occasions, the last being in 1997.
Over 650 athletes, from the twelve European Countries, will be competing in twenty events for Men and Women over the two days in Santry, and the excitement and anticipation is building daily.
The two days of Competition will be shown LIVE on Setanta Sports.
