GERMAN MEETINGS: BERLIN – Grand premiere on 1 March 2014 at the O2 World: ISTAF BERLIN INDOOR with discus throwing and Robert Harting!

Berlin – A legend returns – and it does it in style! Saturday, 1st March 2014, will mark the first ISTAF indoor meeting since 1968: The world's top track and field athletes will be coming to Berlin for the big showdown, just one week before the World Indoor Championships in Poland.

The first ISTAF INDOOR of this millennium uses all advantages of a modern multi function arena at the O2 World: lots of space, comfortable seating, super sound, light and laser. In addition, the tried and proven concept of presenting the best athletes of Germany and the world in seven exciting running, throwing and jumping disciplines! Among them superstars like pole vaulters Björn Otto and Raphael Holzdeppe or shot put world champion David Storl.

The organisers are planning to stage the biggest Track and Field meet worldwide, with 10,000 spectators.A sports highlight is the men's discus throw! In the only indoor event with this discipline, the spectators are protected by specially attached safety nets. Olympic and world champion Robert Harting: "This will turn out to be a sensational event. I am really looking forward to it and am very happy to support the organisers in this endeavour."

Chief organiser Martin Seeber: "For me, a huge dream has come true with the ISTAF INDOOR. We have been planning for years and are almost there. The combination of traditional athletics with all the possibilities of a high tech-multi function arena guarantees a spectacular event. I am pleased above all about the fact that we will offer discus throw as the only indoor meet in the world."During the years 1938 to 1968, there had already been five ISTAF indoor meets in the now demolished Deutschlandhalle.

Up to 8,000 spectators had come to watch the best athletes of their time perform. More recently, there were the big Berlin jumping meetings during the 90ties in the Schöneberger Sporthalle, boasting grandiose athletic performance and a bombastic atmosphere!Ticket sales for the premiere of the ISTAF INDOOR will start on 1 September 2013 on the occasion of the 72ndInternationales Stadionfestat the Berlin Olympic stadium.
