Athletics Australia signs on as supporter of Anti-Racism campaign

Athletics Australia is proud to announce that it has signed on as a supporter of the new national anti-racism strategy launched recently by the Human Rights Commission and the Australian Government – ‘Racism. It Stops With Me’.

Athletics is one of a number of major Australian sports that have signed up to support the new initiative to tackle racism.
 
The anti-racism campaign aims to ensure more Australians recognise that racism is unacceptable in our community, to give more Australians the tools and resources to take practical action against racism and to empower individuals and organisations to prevent and respond effectively to racism.
 
Athletics Australia CEO Dallas O’Brien said that the athletics family was committed to playing its part in addressing the issue of racism in Australian society.
 
“As a truly global sport, athletics is also an inherently multicultural sport so there is simply no place for racism of any form in Australian athletics,” said O’Brien. 
 
“Athletics Australia is proud to sign up to this fantastic new initiative and lend our support to the fight against racism in Australian society.”
