Registration for the 2014 Bank of America Chicago Marathon
Registration for the 2014 Bank of America Chicago Marathon will be conducted through a system of guaranteed entries and non-guaranteed lottery selected entries.
The fee to register is USD $185 for U.S. residents or USD $210 for those residing outside of the U.S. The field will be capped at a maximum of 45,000 participants.
Interested participants will be able to 1) register with a guaranteed entry; or 2) enter the non-guaranteed entry lottery, at any time from Wednesday, March 5, at 12 p.m., to Monday, April 7, at 12 p.m. U.S. Central Time. Lottery entrants will be notified of their selection status on Monday, April 14.

Event Entry Requirements
- Participants must be 16 years or older on race day, October 12, to enter the 2014 Bank of America Chicago Marathon. Participants 16-17 years of age must have a statement signed by their parent or legal guardian permitting them to participate in the race.
- The 2014 Bank of America Chicago Marathon has a maximum net race day finish time of six hours and 30 minutes (6:30:59). The Marathon course will reopen for public use on a rolling schedule based on this time limit.
- The sale and/or transfer of race entries/bib numbers is strictly prohibited.
- All registration fees and ancillary purchases are nonrefundable.
- All participants are required to show a government-issued photo ID upon picking up their own Participant Packet (bib number and timing device) at the Bank of America Chicago Marathon Health & Fitness Expo during the scheduled hours of operation.
- All participants must be familiar with and abide by the event rules.
Registration Details
Guaranteed Entry Opportunities
Interested and/or qualified participants can take advantage of guaranteed entry opportunities into the 2014 Bank of America Chicago Marathon, as described below, at any time during the lottery entry period from March 5, at 12 p.m., to April 7, at 12 p.m. U.S. Central Time.
No other considerations for guaranteed entry beyond those outlined below will be made for the 2014 Bank of America Chicago Marathon. With the exception of a limited number of entries made available through the Charity Program and the International Tour Program, all guaranteed entry opportunities expire at the conclusion of the lottery entry period on Monday, April 7, at 12 p.m. U.S. Central Time.
Charity Program
Those who opt to run for an official Chicago Marathon charity can guarantee their spot in the 2014 Bank of America Chicago Marathon at any time during the lottery entry period (March 5 – April 7). Refer to the Run for Charity page for more details.
International Tour Program
Those who opt to join an official Chicago Marathon international tour partner can guarantee their spot in the 2014 Bank of America Chicago Marathon at any time during the lottery entry period (March 5 – April 7). Refer to the International Tour Program page for more details.
Chicago Marathon Legacy Finisher
Those who have finished the Chicago Marathon five or more times within the last 10 years (2004 – 2013) can guarantee their spot in the 2014 Bank of America Chicago Marathon at any time during the lottery entry period (March 5 – April 7). Time Qualifier
Men who have run a verifiable sub 3:15:00 marathon and women who have run a verifiable sub 3:45:00 marathon on or after January 1, 2012 can guarantee their spot in the 2014 Bank of America Chicago Marathon at any time during the lottery entry period (March 5 – April 7). Wheelchair Athletes
Athletes with disabilities wishing to compete in the wheelchair (push-rim) division should email awdprogram@chicagomarathon.com to inquire about 2014 Bank of America Chicago Marathon registration.
Non-Guaranteed Lottery Selected Entry
Interested participants can enter the 2014 Bank of America Chicago Marathon registration lottery at any time during the lottery entry period from Wednesday, March 5, at 12 p.m., to Monday, April 7, at 12 p.m. U.S. Central Time. Entry into the lottery requires the creation of a registration account (available starting March 5). Mandatory lottery entry information includes, among other details, full name, mailing address, email address and valid credit card information.
After the April 7 deadline, participant names will be selected at random from the full pool of lottery entrants to fill the remaining spots in 2014 Bank of America Chicago Marathon. Prior to selection, duplicate entries will be removed and therefore will not increase one’s chances of selection.
Lottery Selection and Notification
All lottery entrants will be notified via email of their selection status on Monday, April 14. Notifications will be distributed on a rolling basis throughout that day. Successful entrants will automatically be charged via credit card the full registration fee for the 2014 Bank of America Chicago Marathon, as well as for any ancillary purchases. Entries cannot be withdrawn after selection, nor can they be refunded or transferred to another individual. If a credit card charge is not approved by the credit card authorizer, that entry will be withdrawn and another selected in its place.
Those who enter the lottery and are not selected may still register for the 2014 Bank of America Chicago Marathon by opting to run for select charities or tour groups starting on Tuesday, April 15.
Selected Entry Deferment
Those selected through the lottery who cannot run the 2014 Bank of America Chicago Marathon may defer their selection to the 2015 race. Those who defer will not be refunded their 2014 registration fee, and they will be required to claim their entry and pay the full registration fee for the 2015 race. Entries may only be deferred to the following year’s event, and those entries will expire if not used in 2015. Once deferred, entries cannot be reinstated for the 2014 race.
The deadline to defer is Monday, September 8, at 12 p.m. U.S. Central Time. Deferment instructions will be forthcoming.
Entry deferment is only available to those selected through the lottery and is not available to those who register with guaranteed entries.
