World's leading industry event for the fresh produce trade takes place 5-7 February 2014 in Berlin – Virtual Market Place is the key tool for optimal visit preparation

Berlin, 14 January 2014 – Despite wintery temperatures, the three days of the FRUIT LOGISTICA trade fair are the hottest time of year for the fresh produce sector. The world's leading trade fair sets the course for a successful business year.

Three trade fair days is not a lot of time. Especially when more than 2,500 exhibitors from 84 countries are presenting their products and services in one place.

This is why FRUIT LOGISTICA offers the Virtual Market Place®, a professional exhibitor search with an integrated meeting scheduler. The web portal presents a quick overview of international fresh produce companies and provides comprehensive information on the exhibitors’ products and services.

With this tool, trade visitors can contact exhibitors and make appointments weeks ahead of time. A selection of search functions enables visitors to optimally prepare for the event and manage follow up work afterwards.

For example, it’s possible to look up exhibitors from different regions or industry branches, set up a personalised trade fair itinerary online, and print it out. Clicking on a company’s hall or stand number leads to an interactice hall map that shows where the exhibitor is located. Almost all FRUIT LOGISTICA exhibitors are listed in the Virtual Market Place®.

Just three weeks away, FRUIT LOGISTICA is expected to attract some 58,000 high-ranking trade visitors from more than 120 countries. From 5 to 7 February, you will have the opportunity to meet fresh produce decision makers, including wholesale and retail trade partners, fruit and vegetable growers, importers and exporters.

FRUIT LOGISTICA 2014: Organic and fresh convenience trends are stronger than ever

Berlin,  Germany follows the U.S. as second largest market market for organic products worldwide. This is confirmed by the latest statistics published by the International Federation of Organic Agriculture Movements (IFOAM).

Since 2000, sales have substantially increased by 300%. Consumption of organic products continues to rise – however at a slower, but steady pace. An increase in imports is the only way to meet the growing demand in Germany.

The market for fresh convenience products in Germany presents a very mixed picture. While business booms in some areas, there are signs of restraint in others. Fresh convenience products have yet to become part of the daily diet in Germany. This is in stark contrast to the situation in the UK and the Netherlands. Following the trends set in these two countries, there will likely be further dynamic developments that will accelerate market growth in Germany. The first convenience-to-go supermarkets opened in 2011 and more are expected to follow in the near future. Industry experts see great sales potential in fresh convenience products.

Organic and fresh convenience products offer excellent potential for increasing sales. These two product groups play an important role at FRUIT LOGISTICA taking place on 5-7 February 2014 in Berlin. According to FRUIT LOGISTICA Global Brand Manager Gérald Lamusse, "118 suppliers of certified organic products are exhibiting at FRUIT LOGISTICA 2014 and the fresh convenience segment continues to expand each year."

To ensure trade fair visitors can quickly and easily find organic and fresh convenience product suppliers amid the more than 2,500 exhibitors at FRUIT LOGISTICA, special routes have been established to highlight certified organic and fresh convenience product exhibitors. The online tools help visitors pinpoint all relevant product suppliers in the FRUIT LOGISTICA Virtual Market Place (www.fruitlogistica.com). Special brochures are made available to trade visitors on-site.
