Active Duty, Reservists Enjoy 39th MCM Registration Discount Starting Feb. 19

QUANTICO, VA (Feb. 6, 2014) – In partnership with GEICO, the Marine Corps Marathon (MCM) is offering a limited quantity of discounted registrations to the 39th MCM for Active Duty and Reserve members of the military starting Wednesday, Feb. 19. Active Duty and Reservists from all service branches can register for the Marathon beginning at 3 p.m. Eastern at www.marinemarathon.com. GEICO supports a 15 percent savings off the full MCM registration cost of $110, enabling military members to pay $93.50 to run "The People's Marathon."

"While the demand to the MCM is tremendous, this special offer is intended to set aside some spots to show appreciation for those currently serving our country," says Rick Nealis, MCM Director.

Once the discounted entries are filled, military members will be able to register for the 39th MCM through two other avenues; either by registering through the public lottery available online (Feb. 23 through March 15), or by registering with any one of more than 80 MCM Charity Partners, who begin registering runners in early April.

This 15 percent discount is available through GEICO, echoing the company slogan, "15 minutes could save you 15 percent or more on car insurance," and marks the fifth year the insurance company has teamed with the MCM on this offer to the men and women currently serving in the military.
