AIMS races – this weekend – Coming up . . . the Kyoto Marathon, the Ohme-Hochi 30km Road Race, the Kaosihung Marathon and the Standard Chartered Hong Kong Marathon

On 16 February the Kyoto Marathon and Ohme-Hochi 30km Road Race are run in Japan, the Kaosihung Marathon in Chinese Taipei and the Standard Chartered Hong Kong Marathon in Hong Kong.

The Cape Peninsula Marathon is held in South Africa and the Giulietta and Romeo Half Marathon in the Italian city of Verona.

On 14 February eight men broke an hour in the Ras Al Khaimah Half Marathon. Lelisa Desisa was first home in 59:36 as a leisurely first 5km wound up into a furious pace towards the end. The women's race followed a similar pattern, except that when she upped the pace after 5km Priscah Jeptoo was in a class of her own. She won by 71 seconds, in 1:07:02
