Provisions were also made for the physical well-being of the Festival’s visitors: for the first time, Street Food was offered in cooperation with Markthalle Neun at the heart of the Festival on Potsdamer Platz. The wide range of culinary dishes prepared at the six food trucks, which were stationed in the Joseph-von-Eichendorff-Gasse, was received with delight.
On Sunday, February 16, 2014, Berlinale Kinotag will give audiences a special treat: a number of the films presented in the different sections of the Festival will be screened again for the public at many of the Berlinale’s venues.

Perspektive Deutsches Kino: Ester Amrami’s Anderswo (Anywhere Else) Wins “FGYO-Award Dialogue en perspective”
Today, on Saturday February 15, at the award ceremony of the independent juries, the young French-German-Israeli jury will present the “FGYO-Award Dialogue en perspective”.
This year it goes to Ester Amrami’s film Anderswo (Anywhere Else).
The Award was initiated by the French-German Youth Office (FGYO), an official partner of the Berlinale, and the Berlin International Film Festival in 2004, and is endowed for the second time with € 5,000.
The Berlin International Film Festival and the French-German Youth Office (FGYO) gave young film-lovers the chance to award the “FGYO-Award Dialogue en perspective” for the eleventh time. The young jury – consisting of one Israeli, three German and three French film fans between the ages of 20 and 26 – picked the winner of the “FGYO-Award Dialogue en perspective”.
Under the direction of this year’s jury president, French director Denis Dercourt, the jurors watched the fourteen entries in the Berlinale section Perspektive Deutsches Kino. From their young German-French-Israeli perspectives, they passionately discussed which film had impressed them most and finally agreed on their favourite.
Ester Amrami’s entry Anderswo (Anywhere Else) greatly touched the jury because of its sensitive and engaging language that transcends borders and the worlds between them, as well as its thoughtful and humorous take on life.
An honourable mention goes to Nicole Vögele’s film nebel (fog). The jury was enchanted by the poetic power of its images and the extraordinary sensory experience provided by them.
With the “FGYO-Award Dialogue en perspective”, the FGYO would like, on the one hand, to promote the exchange between German and French young people and, on the other hand, further the intercultural dialogue on cinema, especially on new German film.
In 2013, Anne Zohra Berrached’s film Zwei Mütter (Two Mothers) won the award. Previous “FGYO-Award Dialogue en perspective” winners have included Marten Persiel’s This Ain’t California, Dirk Lütter’s Die Ausbildung (The Education) or Bettina Blümner’s Prinzessinnenbad (Pool of Princesses). All these films went on to be well received in Germany. We wish the film Anderswo a similar success.
