A trio of Australian Commonwealth Games champions, each of whom also stood on an Olympic Games victory dais will be inducted into the Athletics Australia Hall of Fame at the 2014 John Landy Lunch in Melbourne on Thursday 20 March.

Long Jumper Gary Honey (Vic) will join javelin thrower Louise (McPaul) Currey (NSW) and South Australian hurdler Norma Thrower as the latest inductees into the Hall of Fame when they are presented with their citations on 20 March.

Honey won an Olympic silver medal in the long jump and was twice Commonwealth Games champion. Javelin thrower Currey boasts a similar  record.

The senior member of the group – Thrower claimed a bronze medal in the women’s 80m hurdles in Melbourne in 1956 before she reached the top step of the dais two years later in Cardiff, Wales.

Full details of each athlete's Hall of Fame citation will be released on 20 March following the official induction ceremony.

The Athletics Australia Hall of Fame was instituted in 2000 as part of the celebration of the Sydney Olympic Games to acknowledge the wonderful careers and great feats of high performance achieved by those inducted.  Honey, Currey and Thrower will bring to 37 the total number of athletes in the Hall of Fame.

#They will join athletes of the ilk of Betty Cuthbert, John Landy, Ron Clarke and Catherine Freeman as inductees.

Tickets for the 2014 John Landy Lunch are currently on sale and can be purchased on the Athletics Australia website by clicking here.
