Second, the organizer optimates the 21.0975 kilometre-long course through the city of Salzburg lightly. „We want to reduce some curves“, Langer explains. The flat course is going to be measured regarding the AIMS/IAAF rules in March. The marathon will start at Rudolfskai, directly on the left side of river Salzach, and finish again at Residenzplatz.

The main event: Enjoy a special marathon-feeling while passing many of the best known sights of Mozart's hometown! The beautiful course is absolutely flat (maximum vertical drop of 10 metres) and certified by IAAF/AIMS. To compete in the marathon distance of 42.195 kilometres, you have to complete the lap twice. The starting line and the finish line are located at Residenzplatz in the beautiful historic centre of Salzburg, as it was last year.
Classification: M+F main category (1994-1985), age category from M+F 30 to M+F 80+ every 5 years.
SPARKASSE Half Marathon
Start: Sunday, May 4, 2014 at 9:00 a.m.
Together with the marathon-participants, the half marathon-participants will run along the beautiful 21.097 kilometre-long course. The course brilliantly combines the atmosphere of a city run and the atmosphere of a run through pure nature! The starting line and the finish line are located at Residenzplatz in the beautiful historic centre of Salzburg, as it was last year.
Classification: M+F U18 (1998-1997), M+F U20 (1996-1995) , M+F main category (1994-1985), age category from M+F 30 to M+F 80+ every 5 years.

You'd like to compete in a marathon together with your family or with your best friends? The Salzburg Marathon makes it possible! Each team consists 3 runners completing either a marathon distance or a half marathon distance. Each runner of a team has to do the same distance! Finally, the single results will be summed. Share your best marathon moments with your family or your best friends!
Classification: Team Marathon male, female and mixed. Team Half marathon male, female and mixed.

Salzburger Nachrichten 10K City-Run
Start: Sunday, May 4, 2014 at 8:45 a.m.
Starting at Leopoldskron, the participants of the 10-km-City Run complete the second part of the half marathon course, passing some of the historic beauties of the city of Salzburg. The fortress „Hohensalzburg“ and its majestic scenery accompany them over the whole distance. The finish line is located at Residenzplatz in the heart of Salzburg.

In this competition, fun and amusement play the main role. The 5 kilometre-long course offer you a memorable experience for the whole family within a beautiful atmosphere of a city run. Start and finish are located at Residenzplatz. There will be a timing, but no traditional price-giving. Prices are drawn, so every participant can win!
CUP&CINO Breakfast Run
The perfect opening of the marathon weekend in Salzburg! Get to know beautiful specials of the town during a comfortable run in small groups through its center. You are accompanied by competent guides. The start is located at Residenzplatz, the goal of the run (between 3 and 7 kilometres) is the CUP&CINO Coffee House at Max-Ott-Platz, where all participants are invited to a common breakfast. The entry fee will be completely donated to a one of the Salzburg Marathon's charity-partners (Rettet das Kind).

COCA-COLA Junior-Marathon
Start: Saturday, May 3, 2014 at 5:00 p.m.
In the afternoon before the big day of the Salzburg Marathon, children and teenies will certainly be the stars of the city-centre. The kids between 6 and 9 years will run one lap (804.5 metres), the teenies between 10 and 15 years will run two laps (exactly the distance of a mile). Start and finish are located at Residenzplatz.
