USA Track & Field – News – Olympic and world champions to highlight Drake Relays
DES MOINES — World Championships rematches are touted as the Drake Relays continue this weekend, April 25-26 in Des Moines, Iowa, with Olympians and world champions preparing for several high-profile showdowns.
Three heavy hitters will highlight the 110m hurdles, pitting Aries Merritt against David Oliver and Ryan Wilson. Merritt won gold at the London Games, however, injury in 2013 kept him out of contention for World Championships. Oliver made an astounding comeback to win gold at last year’s Worlds, and Ryan Wilson is the returning USA outdoor champion and World silver medalist.
The women's 100mH pits Olympic gold medalist Dawn Harper-Nelson against Olympic bronze medalist Kellie Wells and the hometown, fan favorite Lolo Jones fresh off the Winter Games where she competed in women’s bobsled.
Action begins Friday night with three rematches from the last summers Moscow World Championships in the men’s 110mH and 400mH, women’s 1,500m, women’s pole vault and men’s high jump finals all contested.
Saturday features the women’s 400m and 110mH finals, women’s high jump and men’s pole vault.
