Athletic Australia – Mona honoured

Four-time Olympian Moneghetti will receive an AM in the General Division “for significant service to athletics as a marathon runner, administrator and mentor to young athletes.” 

Moneghetti was delighted but surprised at the honour.

"It's not like you've won a race and you're on the dais … it's kind of come from left field a little bit," Moneghetti said.

"So it's a little bit different to that …so whilst I'm delighted with it, it's kind of a bit surreal."

Also named on the honours list was former Victorian middle distance runner John Higham “for service to athletics as an administrator” and para-athlete Richard Colman “for significant service to sport as a gold medallist at the London 2012 Paralympic Games, and to the community.” 

Colman became a Member (AM in the General Division and Higham was received a Medal (OAM) in the General Division.
