Athletics Australia – News – George Roman
Athletics coach George Roman has been given a two-year period of ineligibility for a violation of Athletics Australia’s Anti-Doping Policy.
The violation related to an infraction of “Tampering or Attempted Tampering with any part of doping control” after an athlete he coaches, his daughter Daniela Roman, failed to submit to sample collection after notification by officials of the Australian Sports Anti-Doping Authority (ASADA) that she was required for testing at the Australian Junior Athletics Championships in 2013.
The start date of the two-year period of ineligibility was determined to be 13 June 2013. Consequently he will not be eligible for involvement in any athletic activity until 14 June 2015.
Daniela Roman has previously received a 16-month penalty which means she will not be eligible to return to competition or engage in any other athletics activity until 14 October 2014.
