250 days to go – IAAF World Youth Championships, Cali 2015

The IAAF World Youth Championships, Cali 2015 passed the milestone of 250 days to go on Friday (7) and ahead of that event the local organisers held the official launch on Wednesday attended by almost 300 local dignitaries, coaches, athletes, media and IAAF officials.

“Athletics is one of the most important sports in the world and we are proud that a sporting event of this stature will take takes place in a city that is fully prepared in terms of sports infrastructure and has the will to organise it very well. This will be a great sporting event," said Jose María Odriozola, an IAAF Council Member and IAAF organisational delegate to the championships.

The IAAF was also represented by IAAF Council Member and President of the South American confederation (CONSUDATLE) Roberto Gesta de Melo.

The IAAF World Youth Championships, Cali 2015, will take place between 15-19 July next year and local media have been calling the championships one of the most important sports events to be staged in Colombia.

The official poster and logo for the championships were also revealed on Wednesday and those on hand at the launch were then treated to a spectacular performance by the Incolballet dance company.
