There have also been some highs and lows in the world of distance running over the past few weeks, which are a reminder that the world of running is no different to the rest of the world and we suffer tremendous highs as well as tremendous lows that have a broad reaching impact.
We were deeply saddened to hear that the sporting world had lost a great with the recent death of Jackie Fairweather and we pay a final tribute to a woman who was a friend to many and an inspiration to all who were lucky enough to have her in their lives.
And remember…. when you think of travelling to an event, think about travelling with the marathon and lifestyle travel experts.

Farewell to a Sporting Legend
Jackie Fairweather on her way to winning the Canberra Marathon & 50km in 2008. Image courtesy Marathon-Photos.com
The athletic's world lost one of it's greats last week with the passing of Jackie Fairweather. Jackie was the triathlon World Champion before taking up marathon running and winning a marathon bronze medal at the 2002 Commonwealth Games.

On a personal note, Jackie was our Race Patron for the Canberra Kids Marathon and an Ambassador for our national Kids Marathon Series. Jackie had an infectious enthusiasm and you could not be around her without being embraced by her tremendous energy, passion for running and commitment to the sport.
Jackie also won the Canberra Marathon and 50km in 2008, running a World W40 Record in the 50km, her time of 3:19:12 being the fastest time in the world in 2008.
We extend our deepest sympathies to Jackie's family and friends. Vale Jackie.
