Congratulations to the running AIMS President Paco Borao at the 32nd Athens Marathon 2014 -The Authentic

Last weekend in Athens, the large AIMS GALA  took place, honoring the world's best marathon runners, the 8th AIMS Symposium, the multi-day session of the AIMS Board and, of course, the 32nd Athens Marathon 2014 – The Authentic.

"Paco" Francisco Borao (Valencia), the eloquent AIMS President was most wanted everywhere: to hold the inaugural speeches, to attend press conferences and to be the contact person for the media, the public and other AIMS members.

This year the AIMS President surprised everyone by running the 32nd Athens Marathon himself.

Not the 5 km, not the 10 km, but the "full marathon"!

On Saturday it was pouring with rain in Athens and in Marathon. The entire program had to be changed, but on Sunday, the Greek sun ventured out again and temperatures soon reached more than 20 degrees celsius.

Conditions were truely not easy, due to the difficult original track.

Paco Borao ran together with the female Greek marathon record holder Maria Polizou (2:33:40) and crossed the finish line in the old Olympic Stadium Panathinaiko from 1896 in 5:15:36 as 81st in his class (M 65-69).

Respect for this achievement and congratulations to Paco Borao. A running president, as such a model for everyone, is quite unique indeed.
