Although the Historic Half has sold out over past few years during the weekend of the event, this is the fastest closing of all entries since the inaugural year in 2008. The event filled to capacity with 5,000 registered in that first year.
Very limited spots remain for the Historic 10K presented by Navy Federal Credit Union and for the Semper Fred 5K. Both the 6.2 and 3.1 mile events are open for registration at www.marinemarathon.com and will include a total of 2,000 runners.
Any runner age eight and up can register for the Historic 10K, costing just $45, while the Semper Fred 5K is open to all ages at $35. Marine Corps Historic Half Weekend, annually held each May, is organized by the Marine Corps Marathon and U.S. Marines.
Marine Corps Historic Half Weekend will start on Friday, May 15 with the public opening of the Healthy Lifestyle Expo at the Fredericksburg Expo & Conference Center at 3:30 p.m. The Expo will re-open throughout the day on Saturday, May 16 from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.
On Sunday, each Historic Half running event will start at 7 a.m. in separate locations in Fredericksburg's Central Park and Historic Downtown districts. All will finish together under the impressive Historic Half finish arch bathed in colonial-era stars and stripes. The Historic Half start and finish will be located on Carl D. Silver Parkway, adjacent to the Central Park Wegmans.

More information about the Marine Corps Historic Half is available at www.marinemarathon.com.
