First-class cuisine and musical entertainment along the course during Copenhagen Half Marathon 13 September 2015

When the world’s fastest runners along with 25,000 mass race participants embarks on the capitals new world-class race Sunday 13 September; music, food and a lot of diverse entertainment will be presented around the city.

Runners and spectators can look forward to 4 amazing Power Zones and more than 20 other entertainment sites along the 21.1 km course through Copenhagen and Frederiksberg.

All year round citizens and tourists in the capital of Denmark can enjoy many different events and festivals taking place in the city. During Copenhagen Half Marathon, the spectators and runners will have the opportunity to experience some of the most popular Copenhagen events. The organisers have entered a corporation with some of the biggest events in Copenhagen who will showcase both culinary and musically what Copenhagen has to offer besides from a world-class race.

”Copenhagen Half Marathon combines sport with unique experiences, which makes the event a city festival for both spectators and runners. The different events along the course give the participants a taste of some of the other events which Copenhagen is also known for; including food, music and diversity, which hopefully make participants and spectators want to come back as tourists,” says Ulrich Ammundsen, Event Director at Wonderful Copenhagen. Wonderful Copenhagen is partner to Copenhagen Half Marathon and has established the cooperation with the events behind the four Power Zones.

The Copenhagen Half Marathon race organisers do also value the musical and culinary entertainment, which the 4 Power Zones will add to the race.

“We look forward to yet again presenting a big and International race that is more than just a race. The many bands along the course at the IAAF World Half Marathon Championships 2014 and at Copenhagen Marathon will contribute to making Copenhagen Half Marathon 2015 an unforgettable event for runners and spectators. We intend to move the entertainment programme to a higher level for the Copenhagen Half Marathon”, says Jakob Larsen, Director of the Danish Athletic Federation and he adds, that Copenhagen Half Marathon values all the cooperation partners.

“Wonderful Copenhagen, Sport Event Denmark, The Municipality of Copenhagen and The Municipality of Frederiksberg contribute to the new world-class race and to ensuring that the race’ look and feel becomes a natural part of the city”.

The entertainment programme consists among others of these four fantastic Power Zones;

Start and Finish area; Copenhagen Cooking

The food market of the meat packing district and Copenhagen Cooking move from ”Vesterbro” to ”Østerbro” for the occasion. There will be many different food stalls for both children and adults, and a large area where people can sit and enjoy the food will be available in the CPH Half Village next to the Start and Finish area. Copenhagen Cooking is Copenhagen’s food festival that annually, during August, opens up to a 10-day food festival. Copenhagen Cooking is for everyone and offers a gastronomic experience for all tastes.

5.3 km; Distortion

The runners can expect a unique musical experience when they pass The Assistens Cemetery and meet the Distortion universe, culminating when turning left in the roundabout. The spectators can look forward to experiencing Distortion on “Jagtvej”. “Since 2012 we have tried to gain permission to close off “Jagtvej” for Distortion, taking place annually in May in Copenhagen – so when Copenhagen Half Marathon called and introduced us to the idea of making a hot spot in the middle of “Runddelen”, we could not refuse”, says the organisers of Distortion.

Distortion history: Founded in 1998, Distortion is a local street party celebration of what makes Copenhagen unique, as well as an International feast for the latest & the wildest within live contemporary entertainment. After reaching 100,000-150,000 guests and worldwide acclaim in the years 2011-2012, Distortion has finally become what it was born to be – Spectacular!

6.5 km; ”Strøm og Bas under Buen” (Electricity and bass under the bridge)

2 hours intense sound-bike-party for runners, spectators and neighbours. On both sides of “Borups Allé” under “Bispeengbuen” 8 of the capital’s most beautiful, wildest, best and most spectacular sound-bikes are setup. In Corporation with the Sound-bike Federation; ”United Sound Systems”, “Strøm og Bas under Buen” guaranties an extraordinary experience along the course.

15 km; Copenhagen Pride

In front of the old stock exchange “Børsen” you will meet Copenhagen Pride. The area will be turned into a Tea-dance-lounge under the rainbow with entertainment, beer-bust and shows. Copenhagen Pride – Denmark’s largest annual human rights festival that has its roots in the LGBT environment, rights and culture of diversity, acceptance, inclusion and education.

Beside from the four mentioned Power Zones more than 20 other entertainment areas with DJs, live music and other types of entertainment and cafes are to be found along the course.

The cafes have all put together special Copenhagen Half Marathon offers.
