On 3 October the Tartu City Marathon is run in the second city of Estonia and the 'Legends Marathon' (actually 68km) in East London, South Africa.

4 October is the busiest day of the year so far with action mainly in Europe and South America. The exceptions on other continents are the in Standard Chartered KLMarathon in the Malaysian capital, the Colombo Marathon in Sri Lanka, the RAHAL 10km Marrakesh in Morocco and the Portland Marathon in USA

In Europe the Bila Tserkva Marathon is run in Ukraine, the Bucharest Marathon in Romania, the Silesia Marathon in Poland, Europe's oldest – the Kosice Marathon in Slovakia, the Sparkasse 3-Country Marathon in Austria, the Turin Marathon in Italy, the RheinEnergieMarathon in Koln, Germany, the Belfius Brussels Marathon in Belgium, the HC Andersen Marathon in Odense, Denmark and the Bournemouth Marathon and Lloyds Bank Cardiff Half Marathon in Great Britain. This last will host the World Half Marathon Championships next year on 26 March.

In South America the 1/2 maraton RPP is run in Lima, Peru; the Guayaquil Marathon in Ecuador's second city, the 1/4 maraton Ciudad de Bucaramanga in Colombia, the Gatorade Caracas Rock 10km in Venezuela and the Queretaro Marathon in Mexico.
