European Athletics – News – President Hansen welcomes Bach, Coe & Hickey to Convention

IOC President Thomas Bach, IAAF President Sebastian Coe and EOC President Patrick Hickey addressed the European Athletics Member Federations at the European Athletics Convention in Lausanne, Switzerland, on Friday.

European Athletics President Svein Arne Hansen had personally invited each of the Presidents to deliver keynote speeches following the 25^th European Athletics Congress held on Friday morning, where Kosovo was accepted as new member.

“We believe this year’s Convention will be the biggest and best ever after our decision to revamp the format. It will further unite the European Athletics community and generate increased media interest,” said Hansen.

At the European Athletics Congress on Saturday morning, the European Athletics Court was approved as a body to consider legal cases. The European Throwing Cup, European 10000 m Cup and European Race Walking Cup were the new approved names of existing events.

Christian Milz, formerly Director General, will see his job title changed to Chief Executive Officer (CEO).

Team rankings will be awarded at the European Athletics Championships in marathon and half marathon.
