IAAF/European Athletics Technical Delegates seminar for out-of-stadium events held in Monaco
Following the success of the first seminar for Technical Delegates for in-stadium events, which was held in October 2013, the first IAAF/European Athletics Technical Delegates seminar for out-of-stadium events was held at the IAAF Headquarters in Monaco on Saturday and Sunday (17-18).
The seminar brought together 36 participants from around the world and was designed to provide formal training and education to help enable Technical Delegates perform their duties with increased confidence and competence. It emphasised the need for consistency in how out-of-stadia championships and high profile events should be delivered.
The four different disciplines defined by the ‘out-of-stadium’ generic term are cross country, road running, mountain running and race walking.
The seminar was moderated by the IAAF Director of Competitions Paul Hardy and attended by IAAF Council member David Okeyo (KEN).
Key speakers included:
Carlos Cardoso (POR) – Chairman of the IAAF Cross Country Committee
Maurizio Damilano (ITA) – Chairman of the IAAF Race Walking Committee
David Bedford (GBR) – Chairman of the IAAF Road Running Commission
Ede Rutkovsksky (HUN) – former European Athletics Competitions Consultant
Luis Saladie (USA) – a member of the IAAF Race Walking Committee and Race Walking Chief Judge at the Rio 2016 Olympic Games
David Katz (USA) – a member of the IAAF Technical Committee and the Rio 2016 Olympic Games Official Course Measurer
