Portugal's Sara Moreira and Carlos Mayo of Spain have been voted European Athletes of the Month for November.

 Sara Moreira, the 3000m indoor gold medallist from Gothenburg in 2013 has been voted female Athlete of the Month for November.

Voting for European Athlete of the Month took place through our European Athletics Twitter and Facebook pages over the past week. Athletes with the most combined Twitter 'retweets' and Facebook 'likes' were crowned the winners.

With nearly 2,000 combined likes and retweets, Moreira was the winner on the women's side. She was the leading European in fourth place at the New York City Marathon, clocking 2:25:53 despite difficult conditions.

Mayo still only 20, took the men's award with over 1,100 Facebook likes and retweets on Twitter. He was the leading European in fifth place at the 34th International Cross of the Constitution in Spain, a European Athletics Permit Meeting.
