Bandera, Texas– Shattering a course record by 15 minutes, Jim Walmsley won USATF 100 km Trail Championships, hosted by the Bandera Endurance Run on Sunday, Jan. 11. Cassie Scallon repeated as the women’s champion.

Walmsley (Flagstaff, Arizona), ran the course record in near perfect conditions to finish in 7:46:37, lowering the previous time of 8:02:27 set by Jorge Maravilla in 2014. Also finishing under the previous course record was the runner-up Chris DeNucci (Menlo Park, California), who improved his performance from 20th to second place when he crossed in 8:01:34.

Paul Terranova (Austin, Texas), the 2014 second-place finisher and top Masters runner,  rounded out the top three with his time of 8:38:48, which again earned the 42 year old top masters honors.

Scallon (Boulder, Colorado) won her second USATF 100 km Trail title in as many years, when she made her finish in 9:19:46. Janessa Taylor (Klamath Falls, Oregon) was second in 9:40:33, and Michelle Yates (Roxborough Park, Colorado) a previous victor at Bandera, was third in 9:45:53.
