6K evening race SNF RUN/Greece on Thursday, June 23rd – 2016 Message from the organizers

By GRR 0
On Thursday, June 23rd, 2016 we welcome you to take part at the 6K evening race SNF RUN: Running into the Future starting by the sunset, at 20:50. The race is an integral part of the Metamorphosis:

The SNFCC to the World, a four-day program of events that will take place at the Stavros Niarchos Foundation Cultural Center (SNFCC).

The race is held for the second consecutive year and is organized on the occasion of and in homage to the Olympic Day. For the first time this year, the 1K Special Olympics run will be organized concurrently with the 6K SNF RUN.

The 6K SNF RUN starts at the center of Athens, at the Panathenaic Stadium, the hosting ground of the first modern Olympic Games and follows a route that takes you from the city center to the Stavros Niarchos Park on the coast.

Participation in the race is free of charge and runners may register online at www.SNFRUN.org. The race has as its primary goal to reward participation and effort and enrich our sense of athleticism. Despite its non-competitive nature, the 2016 6K SNF RUN will be officially timed.

The Run is part of the four-day events entitled “Metamorfosis: The SNFCC to the World”, which will take place at the Stavros Niarchos Foundation Cultural Center.

For more information, click here.

Anastasia Zannis and Yiannis Savvidakis will be once again the MCs of the SNF RUN, following last year’s performance.

Anastasia and Yannis will use their intuitive sense of humor, to talk runners through a great start, under an uplifting musical background.  Anastasia Zannis is an internationally acclaimed soprano and a member of the Olympic Torch Relay Committee; she has performed at the opening ceremonies of the 2010 Winter Olympic Games in Vancouver, Canada and of the 2015 Special Olympics WorldGames in Los Angeles, CA. Yiannis Savvidakis is a singer and composer, who has a solid athletic background and is a graduate of the Department of Physical Education and Sport Science of the University of Athens.

The race is organized in collaboration with the Hellenic Olympic Committee, under the auspices of the Hellenic Police and with the support of the National Center of Emergency Help. The SNF RUN is made possible through an exclusive grant by the Stavros Niarchos Foundation and is overseen by the NGO Regeneration & Progress.
