Last Sunday saw another brilliant day for the Gold Coast Airport Marathon with records set in many of the events.
In a great finish to the marathon, Kenneth Mungara (KEN) became the first back to back winner in 17 years, taking line honours in 2:09:00, pipping perennial GCAM attendee Yuki Kawauchi (JAP) by just one second.
There was a new race record for the women when Misato Horie (JAP) won in 2:26:40, taking 37 seconds off the previous record. Kurt Fearnley tore up the course in the wheelchair marathon, posting a blistering 1:30:18, shattering the record sent by the extraordinary John McLean in 2000.
Christie Dawes won the women's race in 1:43:45, breaking Louise Sauvage's 18 year old race record.

I know. HUGE isn't it? It was like royalty comes to the Gold Coast Expo when Mona was at our stand last weekend and already runners have signed up to join us on what will be a cracker of a trip.

In terms of announcements it doesn't get bigger than this. Steve Moneghetti will join us in Berlin in 2017 hosting a fabulously exclusive tour, available only to RunFun Travel participants. Berlin is known as the fastest marathon in the world. But that was not always the case.
It was Steve Moneghetti who first put Berlin on the map.
In 1990, soon after the fall of the Berlin Wall, Mona won Berlin in 2:08:16 – that was the first sub 2:10 in Berlin and the fastest time in the world that year. 27 years later, Mona is making his return visit to Berlin!
Mona will host our 2017 Berlin Marathon tour, exclusively for RunFun Travel participants. He will be with us in Berlin and will share his marathon experience with all of you, as well as provide motivation before you run on the fastest marathon course in the world. Plus lots more as well … info to be included in our packages.
Details of our packages will be released shortly and we are accepting preliminary deposits NOW. We will be sticking to our tried and true formula of small groups and personal service and will have limited availability only on what will be the go-to tour of 2017.
