Northern Athletics Road Relay Championships, Sport City, Manchester, 25 September

 

After a solid ten mile outing last weekend, Jonny Mellor (coach: Steve Vernon) guided Liverpool Harriers to Northern six stage victory with an impressive 15.59 leg.

 

Leeds City took victory in the women’s four stage event, with Lincoln Wellington chasing them hard all the way. Youngster Harriet Knowles-Jones (Paul Roden) produced the fastest leg of the day for Warrington, clocking 16:30.

South of England Road Relays, Bedford, 25 September

 

Aldershot, Farnham and District reigned supreme at the Southern Road Relays, taking both the men’s and women’s titles.

 

The double celebration was led home courtesy of Andy Vernon (Nic Bideau) in the men’s race before Tasha Vernon (Mick Woods) anchored the senior women’s squad to the top prize.

Midland Counties Road Relays, Sutton Park, Birmingham, 24 September

 

Birchfield Harriers were convincing winners of the women’s four stage relays, with their B team also securing a medal in third, however it was Olympian Laura Whittle (Alex Hains) who ran the fastest leg of the day to help host club Royal Sutton Coldfield to a sixth place finish.

 

In the men’s six stage race Bristol & West AC prevailed, Richard Peters (Mike Down) running an impressive 17.29 leg, the joint fastest of the day alongside Cheltenham’s Graham Rush.

Berlin Marathon, Berlin, Germany, 25 September

 

Stuart Spencer was the leading Brit in the typically fast Berlin Marathon, posting a time of 2.19.17 personal best in a race won by Kenenisa Bekele in 2.03.03.

Windsor Half Marathon, Windsor, 25 September

 

Kojo Kyreme (Conrad Milton) and Lily Partridge were clear winners of the men’s and women’s races, posting times of 67.06 and 77.49 respectively.
