October 5, 2016 – Sonoma, CA – U.S. Olympian and Team KRAVE member Meb Keflezighi will greet runners at the Healdsburg Wine Country Half Marathon on October 29th. Meb will be high-fiving finishers and signing autographs at the KRAVE Jerky booth at the post-race Wine & Music Festival at Trentadue Winery.
He will also be the keynote speaker at a pre-race dinner hosted by Comstock Wines on Friday October 28th.
Produced by Destination Races of Sonoma, the Healdsburg Wine Country Half Marathon begins at Francis Ford Coppola’s Virginia Dare Winery, meandering past the autumn-colored landscape of Alexander and Dry Creek Valleys, before finishing at Trentadue Winery. Now in its 9th year, the annual event is a Harvest and Halloween themed race complete with costume contest, white and red wine tasting stations along the course and other wine and culinary themed activities. The event attracts elite runners competing for cash and wine prizes, in addition to recreational runners and wine enthusiasts, to Sonoma County from across the country.
The Race Expo is held on Friday October 28th at Trentadue Winery from Noon to 6:00pm. Runners and guests can pick up their race packets and shirt, visit exhibitor booths, sample product and attend seminars at the event, which is also open to the public. Meb Keflezighi will sign autographs at the KRAVE Jerky booth at the post-race festival at Trentadue from 9:30 am– 12:30 pm on October 29th, and will be available for pre-arranged media interviews before and after the race.
Meb has been an ambassador for KRAVE since 2013, working hand-in-hand with the company to inspire healthier snacking and accepting no compromises as part of the KRAVE Better campaign.
Registration for the Healdsburg Wine Country Half Marathon and the Hallowine 5K, starting at Mazzocco Winery, is still open and can be found on the event website,www.destinationraces.com/runhb.
The entry fee also includes an event wine glass and wine tasting at the festival from local wineries from the region. Top three finishers in each age group and top winery and overall team receive wine awards. Destination Races will also be awarding wine for the winning costumes, in addition to $6,000 in sponsor gifts through a general drawing.
Please note there will be a rolling road closure with some traffic delays and detours on Saturday October 29th from 7:30am to 11:00am.
