Copenhagen Half Marathon wins Prestigious Sports Award

The popular Copenhagen Half Marathon in Copenhagen, Denmark, receives global award for best mass participation event in 2016.

The international WTM Global Sport Tourism Mass Participation Event of the Year Award was awarded to Copenhagen Half Marathon 2016 at the WTM Global Sports Tourism Summit held on Monday 7th November.

This classifies the event as the best event for mass participation in the world.

"For Copenhagen Half Marathon to win such a remarkable award is outstanding, and we are already making great plans for next year's edition" says CEO of the Danish Athletic Federation, Jakob Larsen.

"Because of this distinction, we are able to fully boost our marketing and ticket sale both nationally and globally", Jakob Larsen continues and states that the ticket sales for 2017 will begin on December 1.

The WTM Global Sports Tourism Summit was staged in London, where the best sport events and cities were honoured with a number of prestigious awards for their ability to brand and develop sport. The event also included talks and discussions on sporting events and their further development.

CEO of Sport Event Denmark, Lars Lundov, received the award on behalf of all organisers and partners Danish Athletic Federation, Sparta Athletics & Running, Sport Event Denmark, Wonderful Copenhagen and the municipalities of Copenhagen and Frederiksberg.

Lars Lundov also participated in the summit with input and discussions on the Danish sporting event model.
