By GRR 0

Hi there
It feels like we opened entries yesterday, and now we are three weeks away from Easter Weekend and another instalment of the Old Mutual Two Oceans Marathon!

If you are running, your final entry and qualifier details are now locked in, and all that's left to do is conclude your training before you start to taper.  For last-minute training and nutrition advice, we've created Ultra and Half Marathon training and nutrition videos in conjunction with our official scientific, wellness & medical partner, the Sports Science Institute of South Africa. Read on to watch these videos.

You are going to receive more frequent news updates from us in the coming weeks. Please watch out for these emails as they will contain information critical to ensuring that you enjoy a stress-free Race Week.

Don't forget to follow our daily updates on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram, and to join the conversation on these channels by using the #OMTOM2017 and #RunAsOne hashtags.

Good luck with your training!

Running regards,
The Old Mutual Two Oceans Marathon Organising Team

break the ultra record & win a million

Elite runners in the 2017 Old Mutual Two Oceans Ultra Marathon will once again be racing towards a large incentive. In addition to the prize money that will be won, title sponsor Old Mutual has also put a R1-million bonus prize on the table for the first male and female to break the respective Ultra records.
These records were originally set by Thompson Magawana and Frith van der Merwe. Magawana set the men’s record of 3:03:44 in 1988, while Van der Merwe set the women’s record a year later in 1989 when she ran 3:30:36. CLICK HERE to read more.

CLUB GAZEBO BOOKINGS OPEN 27 MARCH 2017

Gazebo site bookings are available to Running Clubs with 2017 Old Mutual Two Oceans Marathon entrants. We have been in contact with Running Clubs who have large contingents at the OMTOM, and have facilitated a number of pre-booked sites. Single site bookings will open at 10am on Monday and will be available on a first come, first served basis. However, we are pleased to share that, changes to the finish venue layout, coupled with our collaboration with the City of Cape Town's Disaster Risk Management team, have allowed us to expand our Club Gazebo offering, and afforded us additional gazebo space on Middle Campus. ARE YOU A MODERATE / HIGH RISK RUNNER?

Every year, prospective OMTOM participants are required to complete a detailed medical questionnaire upon entering. Runners' Race Day safety is our primary concern, and honest health information is extremely helpful in our medical planning for the various events. Some runners have been flagged as Moderate or High Risk. While while we will not prevent these runners from participating, note that medically flagged runners will not receive their race number unless they have submitted a waiver or medical clearance form. Please check your Inbox or phone for a possible email and/or SMS in this regard, and follow the instructions provided. Remember – this is in the interest of YOUR safety!
