US$ 50,000,- für einen Weltrekord bei der Hallen-WM in Sopot/POL – US$ 2,464,000 werden von der IAAF an die Athleten ausgeschüttet
50,000 US$ zahlt die IAAF für einen Weltrekord bei den Hallen-Weltmeisterschaften vom 7. – 9. März 2014 im Ostsee-Seebad Sopot/POL. Jeder Sieg und Titel bringt dem Athleten/-in US $ 40.000,-. Die IAAF schüttet insgesamt US$2,464,000 aus.
A total of US$2,464,000 is on offer from the IAAF as prize money at this weekend's IAAF World Indoor Championships, Sopot, Poland (7-9-March).
As has become traditional, there is also a US$50,000 bonus for any athlete setting a new World record during the three-day championships.
The 2014 indoor season has already produced three World indoor records*: Genzebe Dibaba ran 1500m in 3:55.17 in Karlsruhe, Germany, on 1 February and then reduced the 3000m mark to 8:16.60 in Stockholm, Sweden, five days later while Renaud Lavillenie improved the absolute pole vault world record to 6.16m in Donetsk, Ukraine, on 15 February.
