Košice Peace Marathon 2020 – One Week To Go! There is a week left until the start of the oldest marathon in Europe.
The latest news and marathon highlight
- The 97th edition of the event, founded in 1924
- The takes place on October 4 under the auspices of the President of the Slovak Republic Zuzana Čaputová
- There is limited number of 1000 participants for the marathon distance
- U.S. Steel Family Race (4,2 km) takes place day before on Saturday October 3
- No changes – the race is organized on the original course certified by World Athletics and AIMS
- The marathon holds the World Athletics Silver Label with possibility for runners to achieve limits for the Tokyo Olympics

- The best PBs in women’s race are held by Miharu Shimokado (JPN, 2:27:54) and Viktoriya Khapilina (UKR, 2:28:03)
- There are few marathon debuts in men’s race. The first attempt of Mohamed Ali (NED, 1:03:09) and Pierre Denays (BEL, 1:03:54)
- Košice Peace Marathon is dedicated to Derek Clayton (78) the first man who ever run marathon under2:10. Derek ran in Košice 50 years ago. Lochlan Clarke, his compatriot, a young Australian student living in Košice, will symbolically run in his footsteps.
- Peter Polak (72) will run his 44th Košice Pece Marathon. There are 61 members of Daimond Club, runners who completed marathon in Košice 25 and more times.
- The marathon will be broadcasted live on the First channel of RTVS (Slovak national TV)
