Winners Announced in Earthbound Farm’s Big Sur International Marathon Contest – North Carolina couple, avid runners, win a trip of a lifetime to scenic Monterey event

SAN JUAN BAUTISTA, Calif. – Two North Carolina runners will soon add the world-renowned Big Sur International Marathon to their list of famous race courses completed together, and they won’t even have to pay race entry fees or incur travel expenses. Christopher and Jennifer Jordan, both avid amateur runners, are winners of Earthbound Farm’s 2011 Big Sur Marathon Sweepstakes out of a field of thousands of entrants in the company’s Facebook contest.

In addition to race entrance to the long sold-out Big Sur Marathon, the Jordans, who hail from Winston-Salem, NC will enjoy a vacation for two focused on health and beauty in scenic Monterey, Calif., compliments of Earthbound Farm, one of the top organic food brands in the U.S.

Chris and Jenni are regular shoppers at the Winston-Salem Whole Foods, so as a long-time supporter of Earthbound Farm, the store provided the couple with a gift certificate for groceries to help them eat healthy in preparation for the race.

"Both of us picked up running after several years in a sedentary post-college rut. We’ve been surprised at how much it has changed our lives. Along with eating well, running and racing have become so much more to us. The Jordans, who finished the OBX Marathon last November, are choosing to compete in the Big Sur International’s 10.6-mile race, which is also sponsored by Earthbound Farm, so they can ‘walk and run’ and enjoy the scenery along the way in Big Sur, often called “the most magnificent meeting of land and sea in the world.”

The Jordans’ grand prize includes roundtrip airfare for two to Monterey, accommodations at the beautiful Portola Hotel & Spa, a post-marathon spa treatment for two, a new iPod® Touch for chronicling their experience on Facebook, and $500 cash (total retail value: $4,500 The couple will also be treated to a gourmet organic lunch at Earthbound Farm’s Farm Stand in Carmel, Calif.

This will be the North Carolina couple’s first trip to the West Coast. They plan to capture their experience by actively posting on their Facebook page.
