INDIANAPOLIS -Trevor Barron has been named USA Track & Field's Athlete of the Week for his record-setting performances at the 2011 USA Outdoor Championships.  Trevor Barron set four American Junior Records in one race to win the men's 20 km national title on the final day of the 2011 USA Track & Field Championships in Eugene, Ore. His performance was good enough to earn a spot on the U.S. team bound for the IAAF World Championships in Daegu.

Barron represented the New York Athletic Club (NYAC) while clocking in at 1:23:25:10. "Given that performance, I feel like I'm capable of more," commented Barron who was also named the 2010 USATF Youth Athlete of the Year.

Barron became the youngest member of the 2011 U.S. team. "I'm just happy to be here," added Barron after winning the national championship. "I enjoyed the competition. I enjoyed my friends. That's really more important for me than having the national championship." Now in its tenth year, USATF's Athlete of the Week program is designed to recognize outstanding performers at all levels of the sport. USATF names a new honoree each week and features the athlete on the USATF website. Selections are based on top performances and results from the previous week.
