Top German runner at the 48. BMW BERLIN-MARATHON 2022
As announced in previous press releases by SCC EVENTS, the organiser of the BMW BERLIN-MARATHON, double Olympic champion Eliud Kipchoge (KEN) and 2021 BMW BERLIN-MARATHON winner Guye Adola (ETH) will compete in the German capital.
The field of top female runners is just as high-class with Keira D’Amato (USA) and Nancy Jelagat (KEN).
Johannes Motschman from Marathon Team Berlin
Now there is another top starter from Germany to report. Johannes Motschmann ran the marathon at the European Championships in Munich in mid-August and celebrated the biggest success of his career.
The 28-year-old, who starts for Marathon Team Berlin, was part of the German team that won the silver medal in the team classification. Placing 16th in the individual classification in 2:14:52 hours, he was the third-best German in midsummer temperatures.
Despite the short time gap of only six weeks, he plans on running a fast BMW BERLIN-MARATHON.
“In preparation for the European Championships in Munich, I missed a lot of training time due to a COVID infection, so I was not yet back in top form,“ says Johannes Motschmann, who is starting in Berlin with an ambitious goal:
„After the European Championships, I took a break for ten days with just very light runs. Then I started marathon training again and so far it’s going well. Of course, there is a certain risk involved, but I want to try to run a time in the region of 2:10.“
His best time so far is 2:12:18. As the fastest German at the GENERALI BERLINER HALF MARATHON this spring, the streets of Berlin clearly suit Johannes Motschmann.
