The Volkswagen Prague Marathon – A spectacular weekend of sport – The Olomouc Half Marathon

The Volkswagen Prague Marathon welcomed nearly 8,500 runners of 90 different nationalities, an increase of 600 runners over last year, plus more than 5,000 people took part in the non-competitive races that are part of the overall Volkswagen Marathon Weekend.

The main race was started by the Czech President, Vaclav Klaus, who was accompanied by the footballing superstar, Pavel Nedved, and the General Manager of Volkswagen Import, the title partner of the race, Rudolf Javurek.

One of the most exciting moments of this year‘s Volkswagen Marathon Weekend is for sure the women's course record being broken by Lydia Cheromei from Kenya, who finished in an incredible 2:22:34, smashing the old record by almost 3 minutes. Our congratulations go to all of the Volkswagen Prague Marathon participants who reached the finish line and we would also like to thank everyone who turned out to applaud the runners along the whole circuit!

22 men and 1 woman were crowned Gold PIM Kings and Gold PIM Queen after finishing their 15th Prague International Marathon. Congratulations!

The second edition of the Olomouc Half Marathon is taking place on June 18th and starting on the Upper Square from 19:00 onwards.

The main race will be accompanied by a 10 km run and a non-competitive run, the Allianz Family Run 2.5 km, which takes place just before the half marathon.
