Run Britain – News – The race is on at the Experian Robin Hood Marathon and Half Marathon
With the development work that has been going on at Victoria Embankment in Nottingham, which is the start and finish area of the Experian Robin Hood Half Marathon and Marathon in September, the races have been under threat due to uncertainty of completion dates.
The organisers are pleased to announce that they have now had confirmation from Nottingham City Council and that the 2011 races will be going ahead as planned on 11 September 2011.
Race Director Chris Sumner from Sweatshop commented: 'We can confirm that the races are on and can now happily unveil the route and further race details. The races include a half marathon, marathon, marathon relay challenge, corporate relay challenge, mini marathon and schools challenge, there really is something for everyone and it promises to be a great day so register now if you haven't done so already!'
In its 31st year, the Experian Robin Hood Half Marathon is a scenic city centre half marathon in the UK where fast road sections are mixed with deer parks and the university campus to produce a unique road race. Starting and finishing alongside the river Trent at Victoria Embankment, the route takes runners past many of Nottingham's historical landmarks including Robin Hood himself just outside Nottingham Castle, Wollaton Deer Park, Wollaton Hall, Nottingham University and the Trent Building. Teams of 5 can enter the Cooper Parry Corporate Relay Challenge which, in its 9th year, takes place alongside the half marathon route with team members running 2-3 miles each.
The Experian Robin Hood Marathon runs alongside the half marathon following the same scenic route for the first 12.5 miles before splitting off and running along the river Trent into the Nottinghamshire countryside, passing the National Water Sports Centre and Holme Pierrepont Hall.
Registration is open with entry fees of £27.75 (affiliated)/£29.75 (unaffiliated) for the Half Marathon and £33 (affiliated)/£35 (unaffiliated) for the Marathon, go to www.experianfestivalofrunning.co.uk to secure your place now. All runners receive a medal and a goody bag at the finish.

Other happenings on race day include the Ikano Mini Marathon and Schools Challenge as well as the Cooper Parry Corporate Relay Challenge and the Marathon Relay Challenge.
