Run Britain – News – Limited places left for the Cooper Parry Corporate Relay Challenge one month away
With businesses realising that their employees' health and fitness creates a positive mindset and a healthy, creative working environment, it is no surprise that the Cooper Parry Corporate Relay Challenge has been growing in popularity over the last few years and is now a firm fixture in the Nottingham business calendar.
In its 9th year, the Cooper Parry Corporate Relay Challenge takes place one month from today on Sunday 11th September 2011, running alongside the Robin Hood Half Marathon which starts and finishes on Victoria Embankment. A corporate relay event for teams of five, each runner covers just over 2.5 miles of the course.
The Cooper Parry Corporate Relay Challenge is aimed at business teams who want to improve health, fitness and team spirit at work whilst raising money for charity and giving something back to the communities in which they live and work. The entry fee is £250 per team and limited team places are available.
You can register your team until 26th August here https://www.cooperparry.com/events/event/the-cooper-parry-corporate-challenge-2011-nottingham or by contacting Melanie Campbell on 0115 958 0212 or melaniec@cooperparry.com .
This year the Corporate Challenge supports the Dame Kelly Holmes Legacy Trust, a charity with a mission to create life chances for young people. By fundraising for the DKH Legacy Trust, participating teams will be invited to a unique Masterclass with Dame Kelly Holmes, where expert running tips in the build-up to the relay along with a training session will be provided by Dame Kelly Holmes herself. This opportunity does not come around every day and is something not to be missed! The Masterclass takes place on 1st September in Nottingham's historic Council House.
Some of the businesses entered so far include Vision Express, Eversheds Solicitors, Nottingham Playhouse The Media Group and Lloyds TSB. Last year's winning team from MMD (Mining Machinery Developments Ltd) will be on the start line again too to defend their title.
Prizes will be awarded to 1st, 2nd and 3rd placed teams along with a prize for the team who raises the most for charity.
Cooper Parry also works hard to promote a healthy workplace internally, they launched a well received wellbeing scheme twelve months ago and have recently been presented with the 2011 Bupa Workwell Award for Excellence.
The Cooper Parry Corporate Relay Challenge remains the UK's largest corporate relay and this year they are hoping to reach a cumulative fundraising target of £250,000.
In its 31st year, the Experian Robin Hood Half Marathon is a scenic city centre half marathon in the UK where fast road sections are mixed with deer parks and the university campus to produce a unique road race. Starting and finishing alongside the river Trent at Victoria Embankment, the route takes runners past many of Nottingham's historical landmarks including Robin Hood himself just outside Nottingham Castle, Wollaton Deer Park, Wollaton Hall, Nottingham University and the Trent Building. General public registration is still open, go to www.experianfestivalofrunning.co.uk for further details and to secure your place now.
