The Reading Half Marathon starts tomorrow and 16,000 runners will be on the line at 1000hrs. Organisers advise you to get there at least an hour and a half before the start to avoid traffic queues and so that you can find all essential locations in plenty of time such as toilets, baggage storage, alphabetical meeting points.
The car parks, for those who have ordered a parking pass, open at 0700hrs and there is plenty to do at the Race Village to take your mind off pre-race nerves!
If your muscles haven't recovered well enough from this weeks training you should get along to the Berkshire Physio tent and take advantage of a free pre-race massage.
You could treat yourself to some new shoes or kit for your next block of training and racing. There will be plenty to tempt you at the Sweatshop retail area and the staff there will give you expert advice on the latest technologies and kit that is right for you.
There will also be an exciting new company at the village . Footbalance staff will be on hand to fit provide you with a free foot analysis and, if required, fit you with custom made insoles that offer comfort for all runners and correction for those whose foot strike or gait doesn't do what it should do! You should definitely take advantage of the opportunity to have one of their experts look at your feet and find out what they can offer to keep you injury free.
Of course, if you are pushed for time before the race all of these opportunities will be available to you when you have finished too!
