Saturday 2 July – Charmouth Challenge
The Charmouth Challenge is part of the school fete and is the most southerly fell race in England. The 8 mile course goes through some of the finest coastal scenery in the South West. It includes an ascent of Golden Cap, the highest point on the south coast of England at 191m. The 'Mini Challenge' follows a 2.5 mile course in the same area. The setting for both runs is Dorset’s beautiful Jurassic Coast, a World Heritage site and is metres of Charmouth's famous fossil beach.
Saturday 9 July – Baildon Carnival Canter
The Canter is a 3.5 mile off-road race, climbing over Baildon Moor to the trig point on Hope Hill with a good “let’s go for it” descent to the finish.
Saturday 9 July – Charlesworth Carnival
The senior fell race is a punishing 3 and a bit mile run up Coombes Rocks and down the other side but if that's not enough activity for you, you could always get involved in the tug of war afterwards!
Saturday 9 July – Heptonstall Festival Race
More ups and downs than a roller coaster! Heptonstall is at the top of one hill and the midpoint is at the top of another so you've got a deep dip to negotiate. Twice. There's a mix of terrain – cobbles to start with, then you have some grassy fields, muddy slope, rocky bridleway and open moorland, some of it pathless.
Saturday 16 July – Bamford Carnival
This extremely popular Fell Race is just one of the events of the carnival including a fascinating exhibition put on by the History Society, Bingo a Whist Drive and a Treasure Hunt. There are family fun events put on by the Village pubs as well as the traditional events: Crowning of the Queen, Well Dressing and the Carnival. Carnival Day starts with a procession through the village of Carnival Queens, fancy dress contestants and floats, with everyone ending up at the Recreation Ground where there are games, entertainment and side shows for all the family.
Saturday 23 July – Bingley Show 3 mile trail race
Now an established event, this is a scenic and undulating trail race of approx 3 miles on public footpaths around Bingley and St Ives Estate open to runners over the age of 16. Go along and enjoy a family day out at one of the north's premier agricultural shows.
