Ottawa Race Weekend 10K race sells out – Event sells out three weeks earlier than 2010 event
March 15, 2011, OTTAWA – Organizers of the Ottawa Race Weekend today announced its 10K race has reached its 10,000 registration capacity. The sell-out comes just days after the popular half-marathon race reached its capacity on March 4th. "There's a trend for our running events to sell out earlier and earlier every year," said Jim Robinson, General Manager, Run Ottawa.
"Both the 10K and the half-marathon events have filled one month earlier than last year." Ottawa Race Weekend is an unqualified success story in road racing in central Canada. With its new 10K course, organizers are hopeful that runners coming from across the country and from eastern and central U.S. states will be able to achieve some personal best times.
"A world class field of elite runners will be competing for a prize purse in Ottawa," said Manny Rodrigues, Run Ottawa's Elite Athletes Coordinator. "With the new faster course, the Ottawa 10K expects to continue to produce the fastest 10K times in Canada."
With 10 weeks to go before the May 28-29 Ottawa Race Weekend, coveted spots in race distances that aren't sold out are filling up quickly. The 5,000 limit in the marathon field is 68% sold, and registrations for the 5K are at 50%. The Y Kids Marathon and the Family 2K are also selling quickly.
