New marathon monument Messenger of Peace will be soon exposed in Košice. 100 Years KOSICE PEACE MARATHON

On the occasion of the jubilee marathon, a new artistic monument is being created. Talented sculptor Rudo Hofer has already begun with this unique piece of art named Messenger of Peace.

Košice Marathon already has one monument dedicated to the spirit of the marathon. The Messenger of Victory, statue of the marathon runner, created by Arpád Račko in 1960 is not only symbol of marathon but it has quickly became the symbol of city itself.

The new monument is supposed to protect the important values in which we all still believe. Thousands of marathon medals will be placed on the symbolic winner’s podium, and a dove – the messenger of peace – will rest on the very top.

After considering many different locations where the new memorial should stand the decission was made. Messenger of Peace will find its place in the Košice Kulturpark complex and the ceremony of its exposure will take place on June 29, 2023.
