IAAF Athletes\‘ Commission Elections – RESULTS
Daegu, Korea – The IAAF Athletes' Commission Elections ended on Thursday 1 September.
Every IAAF Member Federation having had the opportunity to propose one candidate by the deadline for applications of 24 May 2011. Candidates had to be over 18 years old at the end of the 2011 IAAF World Championships; must have competed in the World Championships in Athletics in 2007 or 2009 or be a competitor at the World Championships in Athletics in 2011 or have competed in the Athletics’ competition at the Olympic Games in 2008.
The final list of candidates totalled 9 athletes.
A booklet explaining the voting procedure and presenting the candidates was published and was distributed to athletes on site in Daegu.
Six (6) athletes were to be elected for a four (4)-year term until 2015.
Voting took place on consecutive days from 29 August to 1 September 2011 in the dining area of the Athletes’ Village.
The final results of the voting are as follows:
• Total number of eligible voters:1840
• Total number of votes cast: 479
• Total number of valid votes: 463 (ballots were rejected if more or less than 6 candidates were selected)
• Total percentage of athletes voting: 25.2%
