German Minister for Foreign Affairs backing berlin 2009™

The German government is supporting the organisers of the 12th IAAF World Championships in Athletics berlin 2009™.

On Tuesday 10th July 2007, Dr. Clemens Prokop, acting President of the Berlin Organising Committee (BOC) 2009 GmbH and President of the German Athletics Federation (DLV), Dagmar Freitag, DLV Vice President and member of the local organising committee and Georg Kemper, the DLV’s Managing Director, met with the Minister for Foreign Affairs Frank-Walter Steinmeier to discuss the most important sporting event to be held in the German capital in the year after next.

In the hour-long discussion, Mr Steinmeier promised his active support in promoting the World Championships. \“I am delighted that the Minister for Foreign Affairs is keen to ardently endorse berlin 2009 ™\“, announced DLV chief Prokop following the meeting.
